I own one -- but as is the case with most of my equipment I'm too new to have tried other brands. I think the Bare is fine, the only problem I've encountered is on the wrist bands. After 13 dives in 4 days, I had some nasty skin abrasions on my right wrist.

The fit is great.

I have the 3mm velocity and it is marked Hydro Stretch. I am not for sure if it is the same or not but i can say I am happy with my suit. The fit is great and it has held up great. I have had it for almost two years and it still looks new. I am a big fan of Bare.

I am diving my 3mm Bare for the first time this weekend. My 7MM velocity has been great. For those of us with wide shoulders, these suits seem to fit me fine.

i will add my 2psi here. i dive ALL Bare suits. i have a 3/2 Progressive stretch, a 5/4 Velocity and i had a 7mm Progressive stretch until i bought my Trilam HD Tech drysuit. Bare of course. i love the wet-suits and when i was in Mexico i dove the 3/2 the entire time and loved it. it almost became like a second skin. the one thing that i have noticed is that with the thicker suits, i get some rubbing going on in the arms right where the stitched seam is. so, what i did was bought a $20 Mares rash guard and BOOM BANG, no more rash. all is good. i say for the money you cant beat a Bare suit. when you compare it next to the price of a Henderson Gold Core suit(i understand that the "gold core" starts to flake off after a while anyhow) it's almost a no brainer. anyway, i think you will love the suit if you get one. good luck with it. i am sure that Joe and Larry will hook you right up. report back with how you like it...

Bill

I have a Bare 3/2 progressive stretch and have been very happy with it! The fit has been very comfortable and I don't have any real complaints so far. I am a "fluffy" person and I was still able to get a good fit. (For the thicker suits it has been much harder but for the 3/2 a non-issue.) And for the money, you can't go wrong.
