Wetsuit folding

How long can a wet suit stay folded before it does permenant damage?

Do you usually fold, or roll?

I'm interested in seeing these answers as well. I've heard hanging them on a wide shoulder is the best option as folding increases the likelihood of putting permanent creases in the neoprene. But since I don't own a wetsuit yet I'm not sure how true that statement is.

I checked several major wetsuit sites like Aqualung and Bodyglove and none of them give a specific amount of time. Just that you shouldn't do it for long and keep it flat or hanging the rest of the time.

it's true that it will cause creases over time. i've seen wetsuits with those creases. i just don't know how long it takes for the creases to develop...

I believe it would have to be folded for quit some time maybe weeks or months to be permently creased. I hang mine on a wetsuit hanger and then roll it when traveling.

I also hang my suits when not in use. I fold them to pack for travel.

I don't know exactly how long it takes, and I suspect few people do, unless they had a specific incident (that they noticed).

I roll it or fold it, depending on the packing needs for a specific trip. I prefer to fold, because flatter tends to be better for fitting in the luggage, for me. First thing I do upon arrival at my destination is pull the suit out, however, and lay it out. A day or so here or there shouldn't be a huge deal, but several days crammed tight, folded or rolled, and you're going to start developing cool spots.

This is a new one. I have mine shoved somewhat in my suitcase. I guess I will need to yank them out asap.
