Thermoprene vs. hyperstretch

My wife really likes the Hyperstretch wetsuits but she only has a 5mm. she wants a 3mm and ST has the 2007 thermoprene on sale. How do the thermoprene fit compared to the hyperstretch.

According to the people I know who sell both, the hyperstretch is just that really stretchable and flexible. The thermoprene is a little stiffer but still comfortable.

I've never used the thermoprene. I can tell you my hyperstretch is easy to get on/off and very comfortable. I have afull range of motion in it. I'm using a 7mm FJ. I hope I never have to use a regular old school neoprene wetsuit again.

Ive got both. Got the Thermoprene after getting my Hyperstretch. The hyperstretch does stretch more than the Thermoprene, however IMO it doesn't stretch enough to justify nearly 3x more in price.

The Thermoprene is quite a stretchy and comfortable suit compared to standard neoprene.

So hyperstretch is the way to go? I'm starting to look for a wet suit, any suggestions...

Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks Fish Food! I just ordered the Thermoprene for my wife! (plus a few toys for myself since ST was going through the trouble of sending us a box!)

I'm not sure the Hyperstretch is worth the extra money over some of the other stretchy types of wetsuits out there. Only you can decide that for yourself. I got a great deal on mine, so the extra cost was justifiable to me. But if I were shopping now, I'd probably be taking a good look at the thermoprene.

Either way, stretchier neoprene is the way to go for comfort and range of motion. The tradeoff is it is a little more money, and it compresses more at depth, which can be an issue if the waters you dive in aren't warm. I've dove mine, 7mm FJ, in temps in the mid-low 40's. While I wouldn't describe it as a highly unpleasant expierience, I definately wouldn't say it was a pleasant one either. From ~50degs and up it was fine.

I'm a warm water diver, and I'm pretty skinny and lanky so I figured a stretchy material would fit me better...
