What wetsuit should I get

If you can, rent a wetsuit from the store and get an idea of what is good for you. We each have different tolerances so we can't tell you accurately, but I would look into a 3 or a 5. One thing for sure though, get a full wetsuit.

When I dove CSSP in June I wore a 3/2 full. I never really got too cold, even below the thermocline (which isn't that deep) but I didn't stay down there that long either. My son, who doesn't have an ounce of fat on his body, wore an elastiprene suit and gave me the "I'm cold" sign every time we even barely dipped below (which is why I didn't stay down that long).

My girlfriend tried out a 3mm full length wetsuit from our local shop (where she's getting certified) and being cold natured in the water, she said it made a huge difference from when she hadn't worn one before. I intend on buying it for her before her first OW scuba trip in August.

I've heard that neoprene will stink or develop some foul odors over time, but I'd like to hear what other ST forum members have to say about wetsuit material vs. smell.

Until then, I'd focus on full-length 3MM (or maybe more - depending on conditions) suits.

Her instructor told her that in his last class, one of the ladies put the wetsuit on backward (zipper in front) and left it that way. lolz

Wet Neoprene = Stinky after a few dives

Get some sort of odor eliminator, you will learn to cherish it.
