My wetsuit isn't too small for me... I'm too big for my wetsuit! But that's a different problem.
![]() Hard for us to answer this question - it all depends on where are you doing your pool work - is it in a heated pool? We do our training in our indoor pool that we keep over 85 degrees. If doing training in a 75 degree pool.. yes, you'll get cold. And then for the check out dives - they won't be as long as the pool time - but depending on where you do your check outs, and how deep you go - that will make a huge difference in water temp. So probably your instructor is the only one who can really answer these questions, combined with your personal comfort level to water temp. I've been diving in a 3 mil full suit, and getting chilled, while diving with a friend wearing nothing but a bathing suit - and he was fine. |

What lake are you going to?
In lake Travis, the temp is around 84 until you get to the thermocline @ around 40ft where is gets pretty cold (75ish). The windy point platforms are at 20ft right now. CSSP the surface temp is about the same, but the thermocline is around 25ft where it gets down right Cold (mid-low 60's). |

Depending on how susceptible you are to cold, you may be ok. Right now I'm not using a wet suit if I'm going to be above the thermocline and my wife is using a 3mm shorty, but she gets cold easily. All the platforms at Windy Point are at about 20ft, so the water is 83deg.
AquarenaSprings is another story. The water there is a cool 72deg all year round. That would be down right cold without a suite (IMO). |
