Elasta Stretch - any users??

So I see Joe and Larry are offering this closeout for the 3mm and 7mm suits. Anyone use these particular models yet?

A few questions -

1) How do these suits compare with a normal 3mm or 7mm suit as far as warmth goes? I just bought a Henderson Thermoprene 5mm - will be trying it out this weekend. We live in Florida. I tend to get cold easy. If I were to go with an Elasta Stretch as a secondary suit - would you recommend the 3mm or the 7mm?

2) How is the sizing running on these? Are they true to size? I'm a pear shape so it's hard to find a wetsuit the fits the hips without being too large up top.

3) Is the special only for women's suits? I don't see anything for men posted, and I know my husband would be all over this if they offered it for men as well.........

Thanks for any feedback you can offer!

I got one for my wife...

Fit for Pinnacle has always seemed to be accurate (I own two of them).

My understanding is that this material is not a stretchy as the new suit is, so it is better than normal.. but not the stretchest.

Warmth depends more on fit than anything else... water being moved in an out of the suit are the biggest cause for suits not working well.

In general, stretchy suits are warmer on people with hard to fit body sizes.. and cooler on people that fit suits really well.

Florida... you should have a 3mm for most diving..if you live in the north, then you might need a 7mm...ok, diving around Boyington in winter is either a 5mm with hooded vest or a 7mm.

Hope that helps.

Oh, and it is a very well made suit.

Thanks for the info, Puffer Fish. It's always helpful to hear from people who are actual users and can offer some feedback.

I tend to get cold quite easily, so wearing the 3mm didn't do so good in the spring water (72 degrees). But I do think 3mm would be perfect for Gulf diving.

I just pulled the trigger and ordered one of these in a 7mm. Although I don't have any dillusions that it's going to be as stretchy as my Henderson Hyperstretch suits are, if it's 75% as stretchy, I'll be happy.

Just hoping it'll be perfect and I won't have to send it back.

If ST had them in Mens sizes I would buy one. I have a couple of dive buddies that have one and they love them, and they paid msrp at our LDS.

I am curious does anyone have a sizing chart for these? I am a fluffier woman who wears a henderson hyperstretch 14. I would love to get the 7mm, but I'm afraid to order one and discover that there isn't enough materials to engulf my fluffiness.

I just got my 7mm suit and WOW, WOW, WOW!!! Pinnacle definitely doesn't disappoint in workmanship and quality of this suit, that's for danged sure! I'd say it's about 90% as stretchy as a Henderson Hyperstretch of the same thickness, but the Pinnacle suit has ankle zippers, which is makes doning it easier. It also has a far superior neck seal, so I don't think there will be ANY trickle of water unless I make it trickle.

Anyone who is tempted to buy one of these (in either 3mm or 7mm), I'd say go for it. You absolutely cannot go wrong with the quality of the suit, and when you add the phenomenal price, it's a steal.

Kim, I wear a size 12 Hyperstretch and fit perfectly into the Large Pinnacle. There's a size chart on Pinnacle's website, but I followed the chart in their catalog (which is different) and hit the size right on. Plus when I spoke to the Pinnacle rep at a dive show in May, he said not to pay attention to weight on the charts and only look at the measurements...he pegged me at a Large as well.

Here are the measurements from the chart in their catalog:

Women's Large: Chest 38-42 Waist 30-34 Hips 40-44
Women's XL: Chest 40-44 Waist 32-36 Hips 42-46

Hope this helps...and remember if it isn't the right size ST will exchange if for you. You could also order both the L and XL (if you're still not sure) and send back the one you don't keep.

Hi ZenaGirl - since you have this suit in hand - what are your thoughts on the warmth factor of a 3mm? Do you think it will keep as a warm as a regular 5mm in another brand? Or do you think the warmth factor is about what it should be for the mm size? (Wish they had the special in a 5mm so I wouldn't have to guess!)

I'm torn between the ML and the L..... I fit right in between....I think I'm going to try the ML and keep my fingers crossed.

I wish I could help you, but I bought the 7mm not the 3mm. I have to say though that the neck, wrist, and ankle seals on this suit are very impressive, particularly the neck seal. It comes up a bit higher than my Hyperstretch suits, and has an inner rubber-type membrane that sticks to the skin. I can't see water trickling in like it does sometimes in my other suits.

I have to say again that the construction of this suit blows me away. Everything is constructed in a first class manner and I really wish they had a 5mm suit in mens, I'd definitely be buying one for my husband.
