I haven't used a semi-dry, but in my opinion a drysuit is the way to go unless you have a compelling reason not to.

If money isn't a big issue in making your decision, I would go for the drysuit

semi dry wetsuit acts as a wetsuit but has seals of wrists ankles and neck to prevent much water exchange so I would go with the dry suit if your diving in really cold water

Drysuit is more flexible (from a temperature standpoint), loads warmer, and will last longer, properly cared for.

An inexpensive drysuit (or a used one) is similar in price to a decent semi-dry.

Given a choice between only those two, I'd vote drysuit in a heartbeat.

I have a fraind with a semi dry. He says is no better than a wet suit. If I had the money I would go with dry suit.
( Ya know, its real easy to spend your money!)
