My wife and I use the hand wash setting on our washer with the wetsuit shampoo from time to time. I guess it's supposed to be even gentler than the delicate setting. Whatever works I guess. I let her be in charge of "the delicates"

horrid really
Just yesterday I was talking with female dive buddies and mentioning how I found my bathing suit had picked up a 'strange' odor that I can't seem to get rid of. None of them seemed to have that problem; I was left wondering why I seemed to be the only one with this problem....glad to see it's not just me!
Needless to say I buy all my diving bathing suits on clearance because of the wear and tear/smell they seem to go through/pick up during the dive season!!

When I got my wetsuit I made a point to rinse it well after each dive (fresh water dives) and that kept it clean and smelling relatively new. This year I have not been as diligent and I have found that the wetsuit has picked up a bit of an odor.

My booties though...that's a different story...they just STINK. Can't even describe the stench and I have no idea why they would smell so bad. I rinse them after every dive but that doesn't help. I have read somewhere about rinsing them with mouthwash; I figured it was worth a try. I put a bit of diluted mouthwash and let them soak, then rinse and dry. Helps get rid of the smell for a couple dives.
