pinnacle wetsuits, merino wool worth it?
hi, new to the forum here
![]() from what i've been reading, pinnacle makes great wetsuits. so my question is if the merino wool is worth the extra money. i'm planning to get the merino hooded vest for sure, so can i get by with the regular elastiprene to save some money or does the extra layer of merino make a big difference to justify the extra cost? i dive around SoCal. so i'm looking at 7mm ones. thanks ![]() |

I own a 7mm elastiprene, I dive in cold water and I'm pretty fond of the suit. I don't have Merino lining in mine so I can't really give you an opinion on how it is. But, if you're looking for something that's warmer than usual and very comfortable those are things that Merino offers. It just depends on how cold you get, if you're okay in a regular 7mm and want to save, I'd go with the elastiprene. Pinnacle does make awesome suits, even their lower end models

I have both a 3mm and 5mm with merino lining. I was at 50 degrees for 40 minutes in the 5mm and didn't have any problems with being cold, but that's just me... They are very good wetsuits JMHO...

I have a 5mm Merino suit. It is certainly worth it! My 5mm is easily as warm a regular 7mm suite without the wool. I dive in this suit in temps ranging from 55 - 70, and I am toasty warm. I'm now waiting for a ST package to arrive with the 3mm merino core warmer for use as the water starts to cool down.
