50's? yeah 7mm hood and gloves will be sufficient! (my hood, gloves and boots are 5mm, and I've done a bunch of dives in 40-ish water!)

50's is warm sometimes in the quarry I dive in!

you guys get REALLY spoiled! I dove with a guy in Key Largo in January, and he used a 3mm full with a 3mm shortie (hood, gloves) and was still cold! I just used my 3mm and was VERY comfy!

yeah I'm still fighting the wetsuit purchase.

I know on a logical level that 60ish water will be a bit chilly in just swimshorts, but I don't like the idea of being in a wetsuit (ascetically)

One suit that I have seen suggested is the Bare Arctic:
http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...BareArcticSuit
You get a 7mil, and a vest.
Local DM was using this suit and all our dives we ere doing were in the mid-upper 50's and was in the 7mil and earler in the week were doing deeper dives that were in the mid-upper 40's and was in the suit/vest and were OK.

I have been thinking of a thicker wetsuit for the late fall and early spring times but when i did a 7mil farmer john in travis in november I could barely move. I am thinking it would be better if in the budget to get hyperstretch or thermoprene 7mil or a 5 mil I can where my 3mil hyperstretch over. But am also thinking along the lines of one of my instructors philosophies of 2mil or drysuit no inbetween, to bad it is out of the question for you. As for me I am a total puss when it comes to water temp.
