Pinnacle Merino 3mm?

Anyone have any comments on this suit? I've heard good things about it and was thinking about picking one up.. how does this compare to the Henderson suits- Gold Core, Hyperstrech?

Thumbs up

Got my 3mm Pinnacle Seal from ST in early May and immediately went to CSSP with it. Excellent fitment and materials. Coldest bottom temps my Atom 2.0 logged was 54 deg. We dove with a 3mm Scuba Pro hood, and 3mm boots and I never got cold.

My wife was using one of the Neo Sport 5mm suits which is a lower grade suit made by Henderson and my son was diving with a Mares 5mm suit with build in hood. Both my wife and son got cold with their 5mm's. Based on this experience I'd say it matches it's claims about being as warm as a 5 without the added thickness.

Really like the kneepads also. They are made of a thick material which I think is Kevlar and are sewn on. Sorry, can't comment on the suits you mentioned but highly recommend this one.

I love all my Pinnacle suits. With the merino lining you will get in and out of them easier than the gold core. As for the Hyperstrech it fits really well and that’s about it. They offer very little thermal protection that I have seen.

Do they make a 6 or 7 mm suit?

Yes, I used a 7mm Farmer John for my checkout dives in Massachusetts. I love the Pinnacle line and I'm planning on purchasing the same suit soon. Love their stuff!

Exactly what I was hoping to hear! I'll be getting the same suit soon now, thanks!

Would this suit be too warm to use in Grand Cayman in December? Any thoughts or comments? What do most people wear there?

depends how cold you get? what's a typical set up for you in 70?75? 80 degrees? Personally, 80 and up is no wetsuit, just a shorts and a t-shirt.... I'd look into the water temps that time of year, and you'll more responses based on that... I wore my 3mm in 72 degress and was fine, I could have done it up to mid/upper 70s, but otherwise I'd be too warm...

I will check the water temps, thanks for the suggestion.
