Thermal layering - what if?
I own a 3 mm full wetsuit. For me it is good to a water temp of 80-82 F.
I am looking at diving (on a limited basis) in water that would be 76-78 F. Most of my diving is done in 84+ water using my full 1 mm wetsuit. So at this point I have a full 1 mm and 3 mm wetsuit(s). I am not going to spend $$ on a 5 or 7 mm suit as I will not use it. My thinking is use a 2 mm shorty either under or over(?) my present 3 mm suit. Trying to stay in the $50 range in doing this. I have checked with ST and I know what they offer. I can also make an argument for using this shorty in the warm water as well. Anybody doing this? If so, what are you using and is your thermal layer outside or inside your full suit. Thanks, Deep

I've seen divers do it and I had my son layer as well. I put his shortie over the wetsuit. It fit nice and snug that way and helped shore up some of the areas that didn't fit so well (crotch, armpits)...areas where the extra space just allowed more water to flush through and carry body heat away. I've known divers to put the shortie under, where it's less noticeable. I guess I 'd see how it fits in relation to your full suit.
