Warm water: booties vs socks

Hi,

I think it is a good idea to have neoprene socks, in case when water is not warm enough or other reasons (skin protection), they are cheaper then booties, weight less (in my luggage), easy fit to any fins.
Am I missing something important?

Again, I do not consider diving in a not-warm water.

TIA

I prefer hard sole booties, but if what you're doing works for you, stick with it.

Socks work for boat diving, can be a problem for some shore dives.

Yes, I guess if you are boat diving they'd be okay. I would think open-heel fins would tear your feet up. But like Compudude said, if they're working for you...

I'll throw a pair of neoprene socks under my booties, if toes get cool. Wouldn't want to walk over rocks with them though...
