Anyone use an O'neil J-type??

I just picked one of these up,
7mm / 12mm core,
Just wondering if there were any opinions on this suit,
I've never tried one. Hoping to dive it down to 45 degrees or so.
Brrrrrrrrr.

Best cold water suit I have ever worn... but be aware:

1. Putting it on is one serious art form. Getting it over the hips and pulled up takes some specific methods.

2. It takes a lot of lead.. and I mean a lot... More than I would have guessed, looking at thickness of the suit.

I have been in 39 degree water, with good boots (Pinnacle shoe like ones) and good gloves (one mitten and one 5mm super stretch) and actually been warm.

With me, the fit is so good that parts of me never got wet during the dive.

I don't use it unless the water is in the 40's or colder.

I wish I could find the 3mm version for warmer conditions.

Oh, I have Oceanic, Pinnacle, and Akona suits in that thickness, none are even close to it in warmth.

That sounds promising, I plan to dive this in PNW (ie WA, whidbey island) So it should be plenty warm, ordering 36# of weight as we speak, if that don't get me down i'll just drive in.
Thanks for the reply, I hope the thing is not too warm for Izu this winter,
I dont think it will be below 55 there, I'm sure i will find some way......

That is roughly what it takes with my suit, but my weight pouches on my BP/W don't hold that much, so it is weight belt for me.

Keep in mind that any wetsuit looses a lot as you go deeper. The 39 was in under 20 ft of water, don't think it would have been as warm in 70 ft.

Always better to be warmer than to be cold.. for alot of reasons, including DCS issues. Just the boots and glove thickness make a lot of difference.
