Fit plays a large role in the warmth of a wetsuit. I would first recommend finding the manufactures that will best fit you by using their sizing charts. You want to fit somewhere in the middle of their recommended sizing, not being too close to either edge. My personal opinion (take it for what you will), 7mm of neoprene is 7mm of neoprene. Sure, some manufacturers line their suits different and I am sure this plays a part in the warmth but I believe it is pretty miniscule. I dive a 7mm Bare Arctic and the reason why I went with Bare is because of the numerous different sizes they make. I found a size that fits me great; allowing good flexibility and does not flush much water. I used the suit in 47* water for around 40 mins and was comfortable throughout the dive. Now that I dive dry, if water is below 70* I am in the drysuit. Look for fit before deciding on a certain brand.

Do you find that you need a lot more weights with weights with the 8mm or quite similar to the 7mm. |

I was using my mates Mares Isotherm until i got my own suit (Cressi-Sub condor 7mm) and i think they are much the same in the ease of getting them on, and the warmth.
I feel the seal works a bit better on the one i chose for myself but of course it fits a bit better so its prolly that. I like them both and looking back, if i could get the Mares a bit cheaper and i had a chance to try both i prolly would have gone for that. The Mares seems a good suit. ![]() Jas. |

I dive a Pinnacle Polar and LOVE it...it has a built in hood, and zippers on the ankles and it's REALLY easy to get on. Fits great and has a layer of neoprene, kind of a skirt, around your shoulders and neck to help seal out water. If I'm really going to be cold, I'll wear a 3mm Pinnacle shorty vest underneath, then don't feel water at all!
