I also dive a Bare 7MM arctic and have had it in 50 degree water. Wear it with a 5 MM Pinnacle hood, 4MM Gloves and 3MM boots. Plenty warm in the water. It's when you get out is when your cold.
For the guy in australia, you can order a Bare online. they are priced well and for the $ you can't beat the performance. Sure there are better suits out there. Pinnacle and their Merino lining is awesome I hear and Henderson instadry and hyperstretch are nice but your are talking $200 to 300 in a suit that you use for a few months then put away unless the water you dive in is cold year around. Then spend the $. I use a mares 5/4/3 for water 68 -78, a henderson 3MM shorty for 78and up and my Bare for 67 and below. Hood as needed. I love my Bare though Sorry to edit but if Scubatoys doesn't have the suit you want, Leisurepro.com has good prices also. Sorry ST. Last edited by cheebaweebie : 11-27-2007 at 06:07 PM. I'm currently using an Akona 7mm and like it. The only caveat is that the way the wrist and leg ends are it's a whole lot easier to get on when you're wearing a lycra skin.
So far my lowest temp was 5-6 min at 48 deg f. Didn't feel cold at all and spent about an hour in 55 deg with no complaints at all - even on repeat cold dives on the same day. |

My son and I just bought 7mm Henderson Thermoprene wetsuits and took them for a test dive this past weekend. Water temp was 46 degrees and I was comfortable. After about 40 minutes my hands and feet began to get a bit chilled--was wearing gloves not mits--but I was really happy with the wetsuit.
Air temperature was 27 degrees, so getting out of the wetsuit and back to the car was really, really cold. |

Another vote for BARE if you can get it. I have the arctic (7mm full and comes with a 7mm hooded vest) and love it. It was to most flexible (in same thickness) of the ones I had at my disposal to try on. And the price was really good on it.
Obviously, the best thing would be for you to try a bunch on and decide for yourself! As some have mentioned, fit is a big component of the comfort factor. Probably more than a new Atomic-fluoropolymer-based-syntheto-organic compound used to coat the zipper lining... trying them on is surely your best bet!Good luck! ![]() |

I dove in my Pinnacle 7mm Elastiprene last weekend at Dutch Springs, my computer said I was down in the 40s at 65 ft and I was toasty until I got to that point, then I was only slightly chilled. I had the 7mm, 6.5mm boots, 5mm gloves, and a 5mm Mares hood. There was hot water pouring out of my suit when I got out, it was awesome.
