Pinnacle Elite...
I dive a Pinnacle Elite, its a 7/5 with merino lining...
Dove Elmer Thomas Lake here in OK yesterday morning... Cold spring fed, temp was 51 at 65ft. Of course the viz sucked, but hey water was nice anyways... I will say a 7mm is a bit stiff, but then again when diving I try to not use my arms unless absolutely necessary. The only thing is weighting... I found I had to drop my trim weighting down due to the buoyancy of the legs tending to put me head down in trim. I was going the way of a drysuit, and may eventually, but with the expense of that weighed against the fact that my Elite cost $165.00 and I am more than comfortable at 50 degrees in it, and can add a Polyoflin liner if its colder... One thing to consider is the Elite has the ankle chimneys and the seals on the neck and wrist making it virtually a semi-dry... ![]() |

The key, as others mentioned, is to get a wetsuit that fits well. Bare and Pinnacle probably have the most variety of sizes. I have a Pinnacle 7mm Farmer John which fits me well, keeps me warm even into the 40's, and not as expensive as some others. Get a 5mm hood, gloves, and booties too.

I also have a Pinnacle Elastaprene 7mm full and really love it. Very comfortable, just enough stretch to make donning and doffing fairly easy, and the neck, wrist, and ankle seals are excellent for limiting water exchange. Also have to admit that I'm extremely impressed with the overall quality of Pinnacle suits.

I'm extremely happy with my AquaFlite custom 7 mm Farmer John semidry.
I routinely do multiple dives in 50 degree water with similar air temps and stay comfortable most of the time. I ordered the suit on a Monday and it was on my doorstep on Friday that same week. The cost was a bit less than the off-the-rack wetsuits that didn't fit me. Custom Wetsuits, Scuba Diving Skins, Parkas from AquaFlite
