I dive a Tilos 7/5 semi dry-its very warm and comfortable. Having 5mm on the arms and legs allows for greater mobility while the core stays warm under the full 7mm. Its a Semi Dry so its also a Semi Wet...does a great job down into the low 50's.

re: 7 mil
I dive a 7 mil with a 3/4/5 hooded vest in our cold Ohio quarries and usually stay very comfortable. I was in a 50 degree lake several weeks ago and actually put my 2 mil shortie on under the suit and it worked great. I spent 67 minutes at 19 ft.(and shallower) and stayed warm the entire time! My buddy wore a dry suit but used quite a bit of air adjusting his suit at the shallow depths. The 7 mil is a great choice.

The most comfortable, and probably warmest (for the same basic type of suit) is probably going to be the one that fits you right. Which means it's tight enough to stop water flow but not restricting your breathing or movement. What fits other people is not too meaningful to you, so you pretty much need to go and try stuff on, I don't think you can go too wrong with any of the well-known brands.
Hyperstretch might be warmer in some cases because it fits you better than others, or less warm because a stretchy suit gets thinner when it stretches. Henserson's Hyperstretch is known for it's comfort but not it's durability. (Personally I'd go for comfort and to heck with durability, but that's me.) |

I just purchased a Pinnacle Extreme 8mm Semi-Dry Wetsuit. No need for a dry suite with this one.
The ultimate wetsuit, the Extreme blends drysuit and wetsuit technologies to create the warmest and driest wetsuit ever built. A true drysuit zipper and Pinnacle’s unique wrist, ankle, and facial sealing systems allow just enough water to enter to be used as an insulating layer. The Merino™ lining system ensures a warm and comfortable dive, regardless of the environment. ![]() |
