Question Wet Suit

I have a 3 mm two part wetsuit that I have had stored for a couple of years... It still looks and feels in good sahpe, Question is will the effectivenes of the suit be affected by the age ? I know the bends on it will reduce the insulation. buit will the age?

With use and age, the suit will lose some of it's insulating qualities, but It shold be okay. I have a well used fathom wet suit that I no longer use because it shrank rather than it's loss of insulating quality.

The best way to test it is to use it and see what happens.

if it was stored properly there should be no affect on the integrity of the suit. the do loose some thermal properties with use but that is due to stretching them not just time.

If it keeps you warm enough in the water you dive in, that's all you need. Doesn't matter how old it is. The only way to know is to put it on and "dive" in.

dive with it and just see if it feels good to you. it may have lost some thermal properties, but most likely not enough that you would even notice the difference. I have one thats hung up since last august, never even tried it yet.

As long as it was stored properly it should be just fine.

Hubby has a two piece 5 ml wet suit from the 70's it was stored unused for about 20 years. works fine. just a little bulky over the mid-section just because of the 2 layers of 5 ml.

dive it and see how it feels.

Neoprene breaks down over time. How much time varies from suit to suit and exact temps, conditions, etc. it was stored in. Take it on an easy dive and see how it works, that's really the only way to know for sure.
