Question for the Ladies...

I am getting my Fiancé certified for Christmas. She has expressed a great deal of interest in it since my father has got his.

My question to all the lady divers is what if anything is something that I might get her to put under the tree, that you feel all ladies who dive need that gentlemen do not?

Since I am in the dark on diving, your input is greatly appreciated.

I can't think of much that ladies need to dive that guys don't. If she sticks with it there will be lots of gear she needs, but most of it is not a good idea to get before she has learned and it's all stuff she should really pick out for herself anyway. She will need mask/fins/snorkel to start but she really needs to try on masks and pick out fins for herself. So a gift certificate or gear she can return are the best ideas there.

You could get her some scuba themed jewelery, like a necklace of some sea critter she might like, earrings shaped like little fins, etc - there's lots of stuff like that to be found.

Or you could get certified yourself ...

something that both men and women will need is a wetsuit, she thinks that women tend to get colder in the water than men, so a thicker wetsuit for her. I wear a 3mil all summer and through spring and fall, and she wears a 5mil, and starting getting cold towards october, and i was still fine in a 3. I know it's a personal thing for everybody.

Another thing that most women like is a neoprene mask strap or neoprene mask strap cover. She says it really helps from getting it all tangle in the rubber strap, and is painful. She loves hers. They make several with different designs and pictures on them.

I second the vote for a neoprene mask strap, I love mine. A "save-a-dive" kit would be a nice gift, get one for yourself as well.

If I were making a wishlist here's what I would add:
Dry bag (medium)
Divers took kit (I have one and LOVE it!) Hey Scubatoys you need to stock these!
Hanger for wetsuit and other gear; the hanger pack is really nice
Wrist slate these are much nicer than the big rectangular ones that dangle or have to be stuffed in a pocket.

Get her a nice book on dive destinations and a gift certificate. Then she can get what she wants and you don't have to decide... she gets what she wants and you don't get in any trouble for screwing up with the color or look...
