This is a very important find for us Aussies. The sinking of the HMAS Syndey has been a mystery since WWII. No survivors and only the reports of the German crew. I gives closure to some families that have had their fathers, brothers, grandfathers who were onboard the HMAS Sydney.

Here is some more information about the find:It amazing that they found her when she lays on the bottom some 2.5km down. The pictures brought back from the ROV show how well preserved she is and the damage and carnage which must have gone on during her last hours.

It is very well preserved. I am glad she was found and no doubt will be very well documented. Hats off to those who found her and to the brave sailors who manned her.

Hopefully the rumors of german sailors killing the survivor is also untrue too. If the captain of the Atlantis saw that, he probably have his crew hung for killing people at sea.

amazing story - could not imagine having a family member on the ship and never knowing for sure what happened.
