First dive - St Thomas, Kennedy Barge. 61 Feet.
Second dive - St Thomas, Navy Barges 40 feet. Short swim from one barge to the other. Third Dive - St Maarten, Lucy's Barge. Short swim to a coral wall from there. Large ancor imbedded within the wall. Saw a large yellow trumpet fish and a decent sized Sea turtle on the third dive. On dive 2 I saw a type of fish I have never seen before. I will attempt to Id it after I get the film processed - I did shoot it. Blue turnecates? I think I shot some of those up close. |

St Thomas - Admiralty Dive Center. I found them via the internet, and according to them, they are one of only 3 dive centers on the whole island. They showed up on time with an 8 pack boat. (only 7 divers on dive 2, 4 on dive 1) They put a DM into the water as a guide. For those that needed it, they had gear set up. Only thing I had to do was to correct one thing they started to set up wrong on my gear - they started to hang my first stage upside down. Good dive op. St Maarten - Dive Safaris. Recommended by the cruise line. Larger op, larger boat. Same friendly service. We had 14 divers (boat could handle 20?) and they put 2 DMs into the water - 1 with each group of 7 divers that day. Again, they supplied the gear for most of the divers. Another good dive op. Don't know about other possible dive shops there. Waiting for us to get off the cruise ship. All the DMs liked my gear, all were very competent. Last edited by Mycroft : 01-15-2008 at 01:12 PM. |
