This is actually not something that people outgrow. I use them on my O2 bottles and always will.

This is a real cool one we have just listed, you can screw it straight into the 1st stage, or put it on a hose with the included adapter.

Cheap insurance for a peace of mind that your pony's full. It is your back up air source...

I thought this would be a strictly recreational pony item and if you went the tec route with a stage or deco bottle you would use a brass and glass spg with 6 inch hose? Is this not so?

It's a nice item if you're gonna sling the bottle it's on, giving you the ability to actually look at the gauge if you want to.

But if you're gonna dive a back mount pony, I recommend using a standard SPG so you can check pressure if needed.

If my last resort is leaking, I wanna know about it.

I use a brass & glass on my stage bottles, but I use a button gauge on my deco bottles. Lots of divers do that. I plan my dives and might have to change those plans based on my air consumption and workload during the dive, but my resting consumption rate doesn't change. That means I don't need anything bigger than a button gauge on my deco bottles.
