Well first you need the supplies

40cf
(most widely recommened) (although lots of arguments for smaller)

Pony Gauge
(do you want quarter size gauge or larger face gauge)

Sling
(Most people here well tell you to sling your pony)

Regulator
(Cold water or Warm water reg. depending on your diving climate)

THEN make sure your pony bottle and regulator are DIN. Although I suppose Yolk is fine as it has been for years, DIN connection is better.

You got to make some decisions to get any responses that can help you. A post like this one will generate everything from slinging 40s to backmounting 6s.

Do you know what size pony you want? How deep is it going to need to bail you out from?
Do you plan on slinging it? Or strapping it to your main tank? Or there are even possibly even other ways of doing it.

Once you figure those items out, you can start to figure out what type of pressure gauge, and where to clip the 1st stage, if it is going to be removable underwater for others to use etc...

I use a 19cu ft tank, with a quick draw pony bracket to attach to the tank (works fine with any tank - easy to detach pony if desired). Use an Oceanic Alpha8 Octopus into an Oceanic CDX5 first stage (environmentally sealed), with an H2O gauge at the end of a 20" hose, zip tied to the octo hose. IMHO, a cost effective setup. A friend uses a similar setup with a 30 cu ft tank.

if you were closer, I'd offer my already set up 40... but shipping to PA would be prohibitively expensive...

My Photos: 1 Images
I recently put togather a pony ( 30 cf) I bought everything from the lds. which is no nesicary, but in my case made the most sence. I bought a used reg for around 130. and the tank. I think the tank reg and gauge were all round 300.

Now looking at ST I see that they are selling a zeagle 1 st stage for 65. Put that with one of there used aries octos you have a good reg for about 115. not bad.

As far as how to carry it. I would recomend to sling it because mine is mounted on my main tank and I don't like it that way.

I hope that little bit helps

Shetland ponies are sturdy, and can handle cold weather. But, Welsh ponies are taller and faster. Wait... What are you guys talking about?

Yah, I just can't decide if I am going to sell the whole thing (reg, sling kit) or just the bottle...

It's literally brand new - purchased June of this year, hydro would have to look, it's first Vis was June as well... right now I have a entry level Cressi reg on it (yoke), but the bottle has a convertible valve, so it'll do DIN as well... I also have the Dive Rite sling kit and a button spg... All of it can go with me to Honduras except the tank, just not sure if I'll have use for the sling kit (an extra reg is always nice, but I also have an extra Tusa RS130 now too)
