Thanks for the tips guys! Right now I am debating between the new Geo or a used Veo. I'm thinking I want the download cable, but even after reading several threads on the topic, not sure it will be a worthwhile purchase since the computers I am looking at are not AI.
So now the choices are: New Oceanic Geo ($249) + Cable ($50) - Newb Discount ($10) = $289 Pros: 2 year manufacturer's warranty, bought from Scuba Toys, free shipping, Larry assures me I will have it before I leave for Cozumel. Previously owned Oceanic Veo 250 ($295 - possibly flexible) which includes extra battery kit, new screen protector and download cable. Shipping included. What do you guys think? Charlotte |

Realistically, Computers are one of the most important items to have a warranty on. If you buy a BC without a warranty, and a strap rips - you can have it sewn back on. If you buy a reg with no warranty, and it starts free flowing, you can have it rebuilt for 50 bucks plus the price of a rebuild and good as new.. If you buy a computer with no warranty, and it floods or stops working.. you have a paper weight.
That being said, the geo is a smaller watch size version, which is less bulky by far than the veo... but if you have bad eye sight and need slightly larger numbers, then the veo will function the same, and have the same algorithm but be much larger on your wrist. It will be a savings of about 100 bucks over a new veo 250 after all your discounts, so determining if a warranty is worth 100 bucks is the other call there. |

There's something to be said for a new computer, but the Veo would still be my choice. There's no wrong answer here, though, so whatever your preference is fine. |

If everything else is the same to you, I think it comes down to... where is the Veo coming from? If you can trust the source it's pretty much a wash. If you don't know the history behind it, I would get the Geo.

The Veo 250 is being sold by a forum member here, so that's as much credibility as I've got! lol
I still haven't heard back from him, so I think the Geo (with Larry's awesome help) will be the way to go. I will call first thing in the morning, since it seems I missed the office hours today! : ) Charlotte |

I called today and spoke with Joe who made the process so unbelievably easy that I kick myself for not making the decision to buy from Scubatoys sooner!
Thank you again, Larry, for your generous offer and please pass on my thanks to Joe, who took great care of me! You've definitely made a fan out of me and that is before I even received my goods! And a special thanks to everyone who helped guide me!! I can't tell you how much I appreciated it! Thanks again! Have a wonderful weekend! Charlotte |

Yup! I'm going with last year's model Geo. It had also been one of the original suggestions my dive master buddy in Hawaii had made and you guys all helped confirm it.
Larry helped make it a deal I couldn't pass up. So I will let you all know how it works out!! Thanks again!!! Charlotte |
