I put the reg bag into my carry on when I fly or in the gear bag with the rest of the stuff when I can drive to the dive site. My scuba bag says nothing about scuba on it so it looks like its not full of expensive gear. As long as the reg bag is padded and large enough not to kink the hoses it will work fine.

This is the bag I use when I go on trips. It's large enough for 2 (or more regs), some small lights, my travel documents, my log book, and a clean shirt & underwear (if you travel enough, you know why). I treat it as carry on luggage when I travel, and I store my regs in it at home. It has a shoulderstrap in addition to being able to be converted to a backpack. Although I've never used the backpack feature.
I don't take it on the boat, but if I'm traveling in my car, then it comes with me.

To prevent theft do make you stuff stand out. People might take a black "look a like" bag or case but not one marked up with bright stripes of green and pink day-glow spay paint. They don't take stuff that can be identified from 100 yards away. |

I put my reg in a reg bag, inside a carry on bag. I guess I could disguise my $500 reg for a $2000 lap top. But I just use a reg bag for regs, and a computer bag for my computer.
