any reason that type style? im assumin to stick in your bc pocket?

IMO, the sheath knifes are better, either size even. i personally use a big ol titanium on my inner calf, but should really have a 2nd smaller on my bc either grommeted or zip tied on somewhere.. when you need a knife it could be a crappy situation in which you dont have the time/compsure to go into a bc pocket, THEN unlock a knife.

dunno just my thoughts. probably some decently priced wenokas on ebay!

Agree w/ Datamunk. Simple is better. You don't need a whole lot of bells and whistles in a dive knife.

One thing I like in a dive knife is a spade tip, so that it can be used to pry, if necessary. Dive knives are really NOT supposed to be used for stabbing stuff. (insert joke here......)

I personally prefer to dive with shears. In my experience, I've found them to be better/easier at cutting monofilament line. You just don't want to get the cheapy, flimsy hinge kind. I have some from OMS that I've been very happy with.

I like it safe that is why a flip knife and the idea of hanging it to your BC or clip mount it. I would not really like it on my leg.

I don't see many options in the $15 range. Even the one you had a link to is 420 SS. Not really the best stuff for salt.

However, for about $50, you can get a spyderco salt water knife that should last a lifetime, or if you're like me, until you lose it. Granted, it isn't in the price range you want, but with most things, you get what you pay for.

I problem I see with a flip open knife is wearing gloves. That thing might be tough to open with 6mm gloves on.

yea or even when you dont.

however, in comment to the "knifes arent meant to stab stuff..." wellll.... i stab these WAY too often

when i was first startin use with a lfit bag a while ago, i shot it up and my reel bird nested, so i dumped bc air, pulled it down and popped the top with my knife to deflate so itd stop pullin me.. later i realized i coulda just let it go and picked it up later (not many rogue lift bags around the sea!)

also, once i was tryin to bang my tank to get ahold of a student so i used the butt of my knife which is steel, and i ended up poppin my BC inside hah. small lil cut, all patched and happy.

other than that, the only "legit" reason of use was i shot a amberjack and i didnt stone it so i pulled it down my shaft line, and shoved its head into a rock and brained it.. but, all in all, i enjoy my knife and the times we ahve had

as far as leg mount, if you put it INSIDE your calf, it wont get tangled on much of anything, unless you stradle a buoy line i guess?

Then here's an idea... But the knife in that link... $29.95. Take off your 10% = 26.95... apply your $10 gift certificate... $16.95 and you are really close to "around $15.00".

There it is. That's a very good deal. I bought the same knife last week and it is true that it's hard to open nor close with or without gloves. I kept it for different purpose and not for diving. Bought another one from Vercingetorix. I still go with leg mount or BCD type knives that clips and unclips whenever you use it.

I personally think a better choice would be this one. It's titanium, so it won't rust, and around the $22 mark after discounts & GF.
